Prerequisites
Pros: Lighter, cheaper, modern web viewers. Cons: No perfect importer – you will rewrite formulas. Crystal Reports 8
- Virtualize: Run Windows XP inside VirtualBox or VMware. Install CR 8.5 there. Share folders for report output.
- Terminal Services: Host the CR 8.5 runtime on a terminal server (Windows Server 2008 R2 is the last that fully supports it). Remote users connect via RDP.
- Wrap in a web service: Use a small .NET console app that calls the COM interop for CR 8.5, exposing results as JSON or PDF via HTTP.
