- Transmitter Licensing: In most countries (USA, Canada, UK, EU), you must have a radio operator’s license (e.g., FCC Part 90 or Amateur Extra) to transmit on the IC-V88’s frequencies. Programming the radio does not grant you a license.
- Do not program emergency frequencies (Police, Fire, EMS) for transmit. This is a federal crime and can interfere with life-saving communications.
- Keep a backup of both the .icf file and the installer. Icom does not provide lifetime downloads; if you lose the CD, you may have to buy it again.

7(Disable driver signature enforcement). - Install your cable driver (Prolific v3.2.0.0 or FTDI v2.12.28.0).
