Part 7: The Future – What Does "New" Mean in 2026?

  • EQ: Cut everything below 60Hz (reduce mud). Boost at 2.5kHz (the 01/W "bite").
  • Saturation: Run the SoundFont through RC-20 Retro Color or Decapitator with a light "Crunch" setting. The hardware had analog output transformers; you have to fake this.
  • Reverb: The 01/W reverb is bad by today's standards (grainy). Do not polish it. Use a grainy early reflection reverb like Valhalla VintageVerb set to 1980s mode. The grain is the good part.
