Lemuroid Mame Roms
Lemuroid is a popular all-in-one emulator for Android that supports arcade games through MAME (Multiple Arcade Machine Emulator) cores. To get MAME ROMs working correctly, you need to match specific romsets to the emulator's cores. 🕹️ Supported ROMsets for Lemuroid Lemuroid primarily uses the MAME2003-Plus
- ROM set compatibility is strict. You cannot just use any random MAME ROM from the internet. Lemuroid expects a MAME 0.78 ROM set (sometimes called "MAME2003 reference set"). Newer ROMs (from MAME 0.150+) often fail to load or crash.
- Parent/clones matter. You need the parent ROM (e.g.,
sf2.zip) before clones (sf2ce.zip) work. Lemuroid won't warn you – it'll just silently fail. - No CHD support. Larger games like Killer Instinct, Cruis'n USA, or NBA Jam (hard drive/CHD versions) will not run. Stick to smaller ROMs under ~20MB.
- Less accurate than standalone MAME. Hardcore arcade purists will notice occasional sound glitches or input lag in some obscure games. For 99% of players, it's fine.
Many arcade systems require a BIOS file to run any game. Place these .zip files in the same folder as your ROMs: lemuroid mame roms
- Buy the Arcade Board: Purchase the original PCB (Printed Circuit Board) from eBay. You have the legal right to dump the ROM for personal backup.
- Purchase Re-releases: Buying Street Fighter 30th Anniversary Collection on Steam gives you a moral (though not always legal in strict terms) right to use the ROM.
- Abandonware: While some argue ROMs for games not sold commercially are "abandonware," this is not a valid legal defense.
