The "Final" Legend
: Because 21.4 was the terminal update, it became a hot commodity. Shops that missed the window to update found themselves unable to access newer manufacturer-specific codes, making 21.4 the "gold standard" for anyone still running the Ultra.
- GM: The most notable addition is the expanded coverage for the Global A platform. Access to modules that previously required a J2534 pass-thru device are now accessible directly through the Solus. We successfully programmed a Body Control Module (BCM) on a 2019 Silverado and performed a steering angle sensor reset on a 2020 Corvette without needing to pull out a pass-thru laptop. The bi-directional controls for the 10-speed transmissions have also been fleshed out, offering clutch fills and adaptive relearn procedures that were spotty in previous versions.
- Ford: The enhancement in the Power Stroke diesel section is significant. For the 6.7L engines, we found improved injector coding capabilities and more granular data stream options for the high-pressure fuel pump. It saves a trip to the IDS software, which is a victory for any Ford tech.
- Chrysler: The "FCA Gateway" has been a thorn in the side of every scan tool manufacturer. 21.4 improves the Secure Gateway access. While you still need to jump through hoops for security credentials on certain 2021+ models, the coverage for 2018-2020 RAMs and Jeeps feels much more stable. We were able to successfully bleed ABS modules on a 2020 RAM 1500, a procedure that would freeze the tool on the 17.2 software.
