Based loosely on the 1980s television series of the same name, the film introduces us to Robert McCall, a former DIA black ops operative who has faked his own death to live a quiet life as a hardware store employee in Boston. Haunted by the memory of his late wife and struggling with insomnia, McCall spends his nights reading classic literature at a local diner.
