Automatic Detection
: Windows 10 and Windows 11 typically recognize the UGREEN CM390 automatically upon plugging it in, installing the necessary drivers within seconds. To set up the UGREEN Bluetooth 5
- Uninstall existing Bluetooth drivers: Go to Device Manager > Bluetooth. If you see "Generic Bluetooth Adapter" or an existing driver, right-click and select "Uninstall device". Check "Delete driver software for this device".
- Plug in the UGREEN CM390 into a USB 2.0 or USB 3.0 port (rear ports on a desktop are preferable for stability).
- Run the installer: Extract the ZIP file you downloaded. Right-click the
Setup.exefile and select "Run as Administrator". - Follow the wizard: Accept the EULA. The installer will copy Realtek Bluetooth Filter Driver and Serial Bus Driver.
- Restart: The system will prompt you to restart. Do it. Do not skip the restart.
- Post-installation check: Open Device Manager. Expand "Bluetooth". You should now see:
- Right-click the Start button → Device Manager.
- Look for an unknown device or "Bluetooth" section.
- Right-click the adapter → Update driver → Search automatically for drivers.
- Windows 10 & 11 (Version 2004 and later): In theory, the adapter uses Microsoft’s native Bluetooth stack. When you plug the CM390 in, Windows will automatically install a generic driver. However, the generic driver often lacks advanced features like A2DP (high-quality audio sink) or proper HID (Human Interface Device) support. For full functionality, you need the official Realtek driver.
- Windows 7 & 8: Absolutely yes. You need the driver. The OS does not have native Bluetooth 5.0 drivers. Without the driver, the device will appear as "Unknown Device" or "Bluetooth Peripheral Device" with a yellow exclamation mark in Device Manager.
- Linux: Generally works out of the box with kernel 5.0+, but if you are a Linux user, you likely don’t need this article.
- macOS: Not supported. Do not buy this for a Hackintosh or Mac.
